• Teacher Induction Program

About Teacher Induction Program (TIP)

  • TIP is a two year, state-accredited induction program intended to ease new teachers’ transition into the profession, accelerate teacher effectiveness and enhance teacher retention. It is a job embedded program focused on mentoring and support which should begin in the first year of teaching. We offer general education and special education teachers who hold a Preliminary Multiple Subjects, Preliminary Single Subject, or Preliminary Education Specialist Credentials the opportunity to fulfill the requirements for the California Clear Credential. An early completion option is available for experienced and exceptional candidates.

We are a consortium supporting approximately 260 new teachers with 210 mentors from 19 districts and five independent or charter schools in Santa Barbara County. Our new teachers receive job-embedded mentoring support while they develop and enact individualized learning plans to support their growth related to the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP) within the context of their teaching position.

Our vision

  • Our Educator Preparation programs equip our county’s educators to be reflective practitioners and leaders who are committed to continuous improvement, competent in the implementation of research-based best practices, and advocates of inclusive practices and equitable conditions as means to ensure positive student achievement.
